PhD theses done in Catlab

Estudi epidemiològic i dels patrons antimicrobians del bacteri intracel·lular facultatiu Legionella a l'ambient.

This doctoral thesis, read in October 2018, has been prepared by the biologist Tíscar Graells and directed by Dr. Emma Padilla, and has been carried out during the last 3 years in the Catlab Microbiology Laboratory in Viladecavalls and in the department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology of the University of Uppsala.
The main objective of the study has been to deepen the study of the epidemiology, ecology and antibiotic sensitivities of the Legionella bacteria to improve its detection, control and treatment strategies.
The thesis has been presented in a compendium format of scientific articles published in leading international journals. The references are:

"Gestión de riesgos en los laboratorios de urgencias y su impacto en la seguridad del paciente"

This doctoral thesis, read in April of 2017, has been elaborated by the biologist Elisabeth González Lao and directed by Dr. Eva Guillén, and has been realized during the last 4 years in the Hospital laboratories of Catlab.
The main objective of the study has been to improve and promote Patient Safety. The starting point has been to study all possible risks that may occur in the three Emergency Laboratories of the study, and then to plan and monitor a series of preventive and corrective actions that form part of the Laboratory Risk Management.
