This January, has launched an automatic plate seeder in the Central Laboratory of Microbiology Viladecavalls. It has optimized the process of planting urine cultures (300 plates in 90 minutes).

Catlab director, PH. Imma Caballé, gave the conference "The cost of non-quality in the preanalytical phase" in VII Argentine Congress of Quality in Clinical Laboratory held in Buenos Aires from 7 to 10 November 2012.

The Health Minister Boi Ruiz, visited visited our Laboratory Facilities.

This June, the Clinical Analysis Laboratory of the Fundació Hospital Sant Joan de Déu of Martorell, located in the Hospital de Martorell building, was added to our organization. It functions as a Hospital Laboratory with one area for Urgent Care and one for Microbiology.

Catlab presented 6 communications to the XXXI Congress for Nursing with Specialization in Clinica lAnalysis, held at the beginning of June in Santander. Two of the poster communications were selected, and ¨Whooping Cough Epidemic in a Vaccinated Population¨ was selected as the ¨Best Communication Poster ¨ of the Congress.

Catlab presents the communication Molecular diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (sTIs) with multiplex PCR in a Laboratory of Catalonia (Spain) at the 2012 National STD Prevention Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Catlab presents the oral report : Evaluation of the results of the specific IgE in the area of the Vallès Occidental at the X Catalan Congress of Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

This February, Catlab satisfactorily passed the external audit for accreditation according to Standard UNE-EN ISO 15189. Items accredited include the procedure for extraction, manipulation and management of samples, and tests of the automated biochemistry of blood and urine
